Less than a week after shooting down a passenger jet carrying 298 people, pro- Russian rebels today Wednesday July 23rd shot down two Ukrainian military fighter jets close to the Russian border just 35km away from the Malaysian crash site.
A spokesman for Ukraine’s military operations said the planes were downed near Savur Mogila, a burial mound in the Shaktersky region, but didn't have any information about the pilots.
