The Director of Communications of the Niger Delta People’s Movement, Mrs. Ibifuro Tatua in a statement issued after an emergency meeting of some prominent Niger Delta leaders in Abuja not only praised Sylva for playing politics with integrity and honour but assured the good people of Bayelsa State that the former governor would not be distracted in his God assigned role of developing the party and working for the change agenda of the Buhari administration in the state.
The group also commended Sylva for his commitment to principles in the practice of politics, the rule of law and the best democratic tradition of fairness and justice.
“Chief Timipre Sylva has never acted against the party's interests” the group said.
The statement accused Chief Timipa Orunimighe and Daniel Marlin of hatching evil motives aimed at provoking crises in the party.
“Chief Timipa Orunimighe and Daniel Marlin are agents sent by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Bayelsa State to destroy APC. They represent everything that must not be seen in a democratic organization. They do not mean well for APC. Their stay in office will be politically suicidal and electorally not beneficial to the party” the statement said.
“Sylva remains a democrat who values the unity, stability and orderly development of the APC” the group said.
The group while eulogizing Sylva for being above board in the discharge of his duties advised him to disregard the antics of Orunimighe and Marlin and concentrate on the job of repositioning the party.
“The Peoples’ Movement, a movement by the people, for the people, and of the people of Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta believes that Sylva is working for the change agenda of the Buhari administration in the state.”” the statement added.
