Speaking at the event, Alh. Muhammad Lawal Tahir (Director of Parastatals, office of the SGF), who is also representing the SGF, congratulated Governor MA Abubakar and the good people of Bauchi State for being the second state to launch the programme in the country, adding that the programme marks yet another giant stride in the fight against poverty which the Governor is well known for. Alh. Tahir confessed that initially, Bauchi State was not among the states to benefit from the programme, but due to the exceptional effort made by His Excellency the Governor, Bauchi was later included. At the conclusion of his speech, the Director expressed his satisfaction in what he saw in Governor MA Abubakar calling on the good people of Bauchi State to continue supporting His Excellency Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari because both leaders have their people at heart.
In his remarks, Governor MA Abubakar enunciated his appreciating to the Federal Government for its concern and also to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for spearheading the distribution of the items. The Governor stated that by distributing the 200 units of tricycles to IDPs in the state, it further demonstrates his government's commitment to improving the well-being of the displaced persons.
Governor MA Abubakar also recalled that because of the proximity of Bauchi State to the states where the Boko Haram insurgency is more pronounced, Bauchi State have received a good number of IDPs who fled their homes in the wake of the insurgency.
The governor reminded the guests at the occasion that one of the cardinal objectives of the APC administration is the eradication of poverty through the provision job opportunities to the people, adding that the distribution of the tricycles is aimed at providing gainful employment to the IDPs and their host communities with the aim of improving their economic status.
Finally, the governor used the opportunity to call on the beneficiaries of the vehicles to take advantage of the peaceful disposition of the State to go about their activities peacefully and adhere strictly to traffic regulations and also take good care of the vehicles and make good use of them.
