WHY AKPABIO AND UDOM DESPERATELY WANT TO STOP EFCC, ICPC

The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved the construction of a new bigger/deep Seaport in Badagry, Lagos State.

In his response, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, thanked President Buhari on behalf of the people of Lagos State for the approval. He said that the project had been initiated since 2012 but that former President Jonathan had refused to approve it.

Meanwhile, no tangible process has been recorded in the so-called Ibaka Deep Seaport in Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State that former governor Godswill Akpabio boasted about during his tenure and dissipated public funds on.

Akpabio deceived Nigerians and Akwa Ibom people with the phantom project which only exist in pictures and books to give the false impression of his fraudulent "uncommon transformation".

Today, the proposed site of the phantom project has been overgrown by weeds. There is no single investor or contractor that is working at the site.

In 2012 alone, the government of Akpabio budgeted a whopping 6 billion for the project but it claimed that the actual expenditure was 63 million. In 2013, Akpabio budgeted a whopping 4 billion. We do not know the actual expenditure for that year. We do not know how much was budgeted for the scam in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015.

What does this say about the man Godswill Akpabio?

This is just one of the many scam projects that was used to loot the over 2 trillion naira that accrued to Akwa Ibom State under Akpabio. I don't want to mention the Tropicana, the so-called international stadium and other white elephant projects initiated by Akpabio which are yet to be completed despite the inflated costs of those projects.

This is why they desperately obtained an illegal injunction to stop the EFCC and ICPC from probing the finances of Akwa Ibom State under Akpabio. They know that Nigerians will curse them when the Akpabio gate is opened.

Where is the Ibaka Deep Seaport? What happened to the funds expended on the phantom project?
