The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, says, the Federal Government will strengthen the role of Science and Technology in the Development of Agriculture and other sectors. He gave the assurance at the graduation of Entreprenuers at the Technology Incubation Centre Birnin Kebbi on 26th September, 2016.
He expressed the belief that Nigeria was capable of feeding herself with proper application of Science and Technology in and with modernised methods of agriculture. He said this can help reduce pressure on the economy and support the diversification plan.
Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said the Federal Government had made it a policy to respond to challenges on entrepreneuríal development and encourage skill acquisition for self-reliance. Adding that the Federal Government is committed to releasing the creative energy of the youth to create and support new entrepreneurs that will stimulate the growth of SME's so as to add collective value to Nigeria.
He congratulated the Technology Incubation Centre, the graduands and Kebbi State for the milestone achievement.
In a remark, Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said his administration would continue to tap entrepreneurial skills of its people for socio-economic progress. He emphasised the value of micro small and medium enterprises to the development and sustainance of the economy in Kebbi and Nigeria as a whole.
The Governor pledged that the State Government would support any entrepreneur who graduated from the Technology Incubation Centre with finance to operate profitably. He further gave assurance that the increase in yields recorded by farmers in the state would be consolidated by the Government through provision of more incentives and input to them.
The Minister and Governor presented certificates to the graduates. Gifts were also presented. Cultural presentations were made on the importance of Science & Technology and there was a visit to exhibition stands showcasing #MadeinKebbi products and technology.
Others in attendance at the event were the DG Technology Incubation Centre; the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar Yauri; the Chief of Staff, Suleiman Argungu; Hon. Commissioners, Members, Royal fathers and other officials.
