A foremost youth leader in the Niger Delta region, comrade Nadu Okenema has faulted lawmakers of Bayelsa State origin, over allegations of human rights abuse, oil theft and illegal bunkering against an indigenous company, Darlon Security and Guards.
Comrade Okenema, who is the former Youth President of Okpoama Kingdom Youth Movement (OKYM), berated that the lawmakers, rather than making laws that will improve the living conditions of the populace have now been used as a tool for political witch hunting.
Comrade Nadu Okenema while commending the efforts of Darlon Security and Guards and its affiliate companies such as, Kojo Sam Logistics, asserted that these companies has created over 5,000 jobs in Bayelsa State alone, among several other developmental projects through its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts.
Furthermore, the Niger Delta Youth Leader, also noted that Darlon Security and Guards and its affiliate companies have brought back sanity in the region by drastically reducing vices such as illegal bunkering, vandalization of oil facilities and other oil and gas related crimes.
The foremost Ijaw Youth Leader, also pointed out that the operations of Darlon Security and its affiliates had also reduced and minimized incessant cases of pollution and oil spillages which has continually degraded our environment, as they have stamped out illegal bunkering and have professionally disposed seized products from oil thieves.
Comrade Nadu Okenema faulted the Bayelsa State Lawmakers for being used to play a script written by some political big weights in the state. Noting, that Darlon Security and Guards is not at war with anyone to warrant shootings in communities and as such, the allegations of human rights abuse and others are baseless.
Comrade Okenema also took a swipe on the position of a federal Lawmaker, who raised a motion that the surveillance security be given to the host communities. According to Okenema, Darlon Security and Guards and its affiliates has engaged members of host communities in employments and even in its corporate social responsibility tasks, therefore the motion raised, holds no water.
The former Youth Leader of Okpoama Kingdom however expressed fear that the relatively peaceful oil rich region, especially Bayelsa State may witness an upsurge of violent conflict if Darlon Security and Guards is reaped-off of this Surveillance Contract, which will result in the disengagement of over 5,000 Bayelsan Youths from their jobs.
Comrade Okenema, therefore calls on the Bayelsa State lawmakers both at the state and federal level to face their business of lawmaking, that will lead to better and effective representation, rather than engaging in this Pull him Down Syndrome that has become a common decimal in our clime.
